This is a blog about my findings relating to dental, mental, and general physical health over 40 years of research and clinical experience. It is not medical advice and consultation with your physician is advised. This blog does not contitute a doctor/patient relationship. I recommend a radical change in the entire medical system based on a different sequence of treatment that I will explain through the course of the postings.

When you know of the relationship of the posterior pituitary gland to the adrenal cortex it explains lots of things. Some claim that adrenal fatique does not exist --but it does. When the post pit gland is overactive it supresses the adrenal cortex and causes reduced ability to handle stress. Anthropometric measurements will pick up this type of glandular pattern. I have known many hard driving athletic types with this glandular pattern. Treatment involves keeping the posterior pituitary under control by supporting the adrenal cortex. Testosterone or some combination of testosterone with estrogen does this very nicely. This was discovered by Page. R. Forbes, D.M.D.

Most in medicine ---don't know of the relatioship of the adrenal cortex to the posterior pituitary gland. An underfunctioning posterior pituitary gland produces many things---some forms of high pressure, type 2 diabetes, increased tooth decay, susceptibility to infection, depression and manic depression, some weight problems, hair on the upper lip in women, double chin in men, bald spot at the back of the head in men with the baldness gene, fertility problems, spontaneous abortion, some forms of periodontal disease, some acne problems in teenagers, osteoporosis, frequency of ion plus most all of the problems that go with manic depression including . Futhermore this gland is almost never treated in modern medicine. R. Forbes, D.M.D.

The undiagnosed and untreated gland -- Except for major malfunctions of the pituitary gland this gland is largely untreated in modern medicine. Page determined through his system of body measurements or anthropometrics that the anterior pituitary can be over active or underactive and also the posterior pituitary gland can be over active or underactive. These glandular imbalances create all kinds of havoc when they can easily be balanced. One association between this gland discovered by Page is that the posterior pituitary gland is opposed by the adrenal cortex. This is unknown by modern medicine. When the posterior pituitary is overactive due to gene inheritance it supresses the adrenal cortex and causes reduced ability to handle stress over time. Dr. Ray Forbes

Page Body Chemistry Balancing -- I give this course to healthcare professionals a few times per year. It is a one day course at my office in Pittsburgh. The students learn how to do anthropometric measuring, construct and interpret graphs, and learn the treatment protocols. Call my office in Pittsbugh for details call 412-655-2662. The course is also given occasionally for the lay public. The Page system is outlined in his books at www.ifnh.org and in my books The Hormone Mess and How To Fix It and A Magic Bullet Cure For Depression and Manic Depression at www.amazon.com. Osteoporosis-- There is no good medical treatment for osteoporosis. However, the tendency is easily corrected with proper glandular balance. In osteoporosis the serum phosphorous is high relative to the calcium. To determine this the blood must be tested after being on a controlled diet for three days. A situation where osteoporosis can occur is phosphorous 4, calcium 9.8. Raymond C. Forbes, D.M.D.

Calcium/Phosphorous Ratio --- This ratio is used as a marker in the Page method of body chemistry balancing. It is always determined on a controlled diet for three days and after a 12 hour fast and taking no medications. Very few tests in conventional medicine are done this way. The ideal ratio should be 2 1/2 :1 Deviation from this norm indicates a glandular imbalance. The Page measuring system of anthropometrics tells you the glands that could be out of balance. The ratio also helps to deterimine the correct supplement as well as the correct dosage. Dr. Ray Forbes

Calcium/Phosphorous The ratio of these two substances in your blood is critical. The true value is seldom picked up on blood tests. To get the true value you should be tested on a diet free of milk and milk products, sugar, white flour, caffeine, no fruit or fruit juices, no peanuts or honey and after a 12 hour fast. This will give the true ratio. Ideally it should be 2 1/2:1 or for example calcium 10, phosphorous 4. In osteoporosis and periodontal disease the phosphorous is often high relative to calcium ie calcium 9.8, phosphorous 4.o. This situation will give you bone loss and sometimes it appears around your teeth before it is apparent elsewhere. We will discuss how to improve this ratio. Dr.Ray Forbes

Dental/mental -- there is often an association between gum disease and depression and manic depression that is often overlooked. It's due to a glandular pattern that is almost never diagnosed because few even know that it exists -- that is posterior pituitary gland deficiency. Besides causing a host of other problems it will 0ften cause the serum phosphorous to be high relative to serum calcium and this causes inflamed gums. Dr. Ray Forbes

Rotapoints for between your teeth. I like this gadget better than floss. It will stimulate your gums to be firm and clean between them. It's a long thin plastic toothpick device that is triangular in cross section, put the base part of the triangle against your gums and the point between your teeth and move the rotapoint in and out. Your gums may bleed at first but after about a week they will be tougher. They are se along the sides so they help get the plaque off from between your teeth. I haven't seen them in stores but your dentist can get them. They comes in packs of about 50 each. R. Forbes, D.M.D. www.pittsburgh-dentist.com
